The John Ivins Ministry and Worship Band seek to encourage and guide students and adults to pursue, find and live out God’s calling on their lives and to always seek God during both the good times and the challenging times of life.
JUST CELEBRATED MUCH OF THE CHRISTMAS SEASON IN ZIMBABWE This Christmas we were privileged to travel to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to lead worship at Bulawayo, Baptist Church, to support the work of a good friend who is a missionary there, to minister in a community outside of Bulawayo and to lead a student camp for about 100 high school students. |
Continued Zimbabwe Ministry in 2016 We had such an awesome experience with our new friends in Zimbabwe, we're looking at ways we can stay involved in ministry there. Our first effort is going to be with THE CRAVE, a Bulawayo Baptist ministry involving 20-something young adults. |
ONGOING MINISTRY WITH VARIOUS CHURCHES In addition to leading worship at our own churches, the band also works with lots of other congregations who are without a regular worship leader, need to give their regular worship team a Sunday off or who are in periods of transition. |
TYPICAL SUNDAY MORNINGS FOR THE BAND When the band is not leading worship for a church, conference or retreat on a Sunday, each of the band members can be found leading worship in their home churches. Each of the band members live in the Greater Richmond area -- all within about an hour's drive of one another. Because they all attend churches near their homes, the band members are involved in lots of different churches on Sunday mornings. |
WHAT GOD HAS BEEN DOING WITH US This is a new website - replacing one that was created in 2007 (yes, it was time)! But ... just because it is new, we did not want the band "news" to somehow not reflect what has occured up until now. So, we thought we'd provide just a short summary of what our "news" has looked like and how God has allowed us to be involved in His ministry for the past 10+ years.

For over a year, the band has worked on recording this CD -- called REPLENISHED. Many of the original songs, including the title track, are about coming back from challenge, struggles and heartache born out of the experiences of Billy and John .... Billy through the loss of his son in a motorcycle accident and John through the loss of his wife to cancer two months later. The message the band hopes to communicate with this CD is that even in those moments when we feel we just cannot go on, God is there. He has brought them -- and the band -- through those days, and this CD is a part of that journey. The CD also includes some of the band's favorite praise and worship songs -- played in the band's rock style.
One of the truly exciting things about the release is that the band got to have a CD release party in Zimbabwe! One night at the student camp they were leading, they had the chance to introduce many of the songs to the group -- and leave behind CDs for everyone. Was an absolutely incredible experience and unique way to introduce this CD.
